Monika Tomanová

I have been painting ever since I was little and even though I decided to study organic chemistry, as opposed to an art school, and even put painting on hold for some time, art has found me again and became a significant part of my life.

Like everyone, I continue to develop as a painter, sculptor, and a person, whilst attending art classes under Levon Lavyan in his private atelier in Ostrava.

Practice makes perfect so I often revisit my study materials to paint them again and again; I truly enjoy my study paintings, some of which you can see here in the gallery.

In both my life and work, I capture various tones, colours, emotions, stories. My figurative paintings capture hope, desire to change, love and happiness but also despair and oblivion. Symbolically, I endeavour to capture all shades of life.
